Snide ol' chum. How would you know what top players want?

I'll bet you never played at any level once you left the playground

Willwall, you attack more than Moyes does......

I'll keep it simple for you.....top players playing in top leagues want to play in teams that allow them to play their best football......if you don't let them do this (especially over a season) they won't do the smpliest of things for the cunt manager that prevents them enjoying their profession......as seen currently at West Ham.....even Rice is labouring under these tactics of Moyes....

Re: ⚽ Gent v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Lets be clear, when we play our best performing players we generally play better than when we play players not performing so well so the players are the essential part of playing well. Admittedly the players have to play with the other players picked so they will be limited by that in a big way. Good players can raise the game of the less good and poor players can induce poor morale very quickly. The spirit f the group is essential for getting the best out of everyone and one bad apple can ruin the spirit quickly.

As far as Moyes is concerned? I've watched two seasons of European football and was wondering how we longed for that and how other teams do too. Yes, its a shame we have to suffer this poor run of performances but enjoying the ride far outweighs the dodgy football.

Yes you're right Snide I have managed at county league level and very successfully too as I ROFL at stewie and Trunds..

However, you miss the point. The difference between amateur football and professional is huge. One's a full time job and the other for fun. When I see a German international ball watching I wonder how the manager decided to buy him. I also wonder why he hasn't had it coached out of him yet.

When I see an international Moroccan defender that keeps making control errors and getting out jumped by forwards I wonder how that keeps happening without working on strengthening those weaknesses.

When I see our £50m Brazilian playmaker playing defensive midfield for Brazil I wonder how the fuck our manager came to buy him as a play maker expecting to get 8-10 goals and assists a season.

When I see us fail with 2nd strikers like Chicharito I wonder why we go and buy another in Ings. Same as when we fail with a first striker in Haller we go and buy a similar striker in Scamacca.

And I also wonder why we buy a stats topping Championship midfielder and keep from picking him while playing a Czech international that rarely manages more than 10 passes a game these days.

So yes Snide you are right that it destroys the spirit when your manager is so clearly incompetent and incapable but by the same token, I expect international class players to take control and work on their own skill shortages...

Willtell, you've managed in the game and you will know you have to get the players onside and playing to their strengths.....this is why you would never ask them to play the football Moyes asks then to play week in week out....the odd game maybe at a team you know is shithot but not all the time.....this is because you knew if you did that the basics go, the enthusiasm goes in fact 9 times out of 10 you knew you would be asked to go.......

The Cole’s last night seemed to focus on the players mind set and didn’t comment on Moyes himself….

Re: ⚽ Gent v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
ED is right that Moyes doesn’t stop players being able to do basics like head and pass the ball.

We have loads of coaches to work on all sorts of aspects of the game but I doubt we work on attacking play.

Let’s be honest here. It’s a tactical mess and our players develop limitations. They can’t be working on individual weaknesses nor attacks nor set plays.

Moyes is the fraud but so are lots of the players.

El Scorchio, is the one to now have the discussion with about players ED as he is putting up a very good case as to why it's all about Moyes.....

Re: ⚽ Gent v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
I'd say it is, because we are just not set up or coached to combat the press. There is no work done seemingly on movement off the ball, or moving the ball quickly when we have it. It's so rare to see any one touch passing or incisive moves much like their equaliser last night. You can't tell me Paqueta is incapable of playing quick moving one touch football as a full Brazil international because we've seen it, yet stuck in the rigid undynamic setup under Moyes, he looks hurried and ineffective as he's always got 1-2 players closing him down as soon as he gets the ball and no-one to pass to except backwards because no-one moves off the ball and tries to create space by pulling any player out of position. We're almost always overloaded by the opposition because we're so slow and static and predictable to play against.

Re: ⚽ Gent v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
The thing that annoys me is that if you are right and it’s Moyes tactics and set up that is the problem, why can’t well paid professional footballers pass the ball 10 yards giving the ball away can’t hold the ball. No body up front any good is the biggest problem but playing from defence through midfield shouldn’t be a problem should it?

El Scorchio 2:14 Fri Apr 14
Re: ⚽ Gent v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
In short, they are all better than they are able to show now.

Paqueta, Scamacca, Aguerd, Kehrer, Johnson in particular- they've all regressed under this manager. We've all seen them be far more capable either in the past (even a few months ago at WHU) or for their international sides- possible exception of Kehrer.

Bottom line, Moyes is making them all worse and worse as time goes on.

El Scorchio 2:09 Fri Apr 14
Re: ⚽ Gent v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
For me this is reminiscent of the first season at the OS under Bilic. The team was falling apart and none of the players were being put in a position where they could actually look good or as good as the players they are.

This is what's happening now. The situation is simply handicapping the players and none of them are able to play to their strengths or potential or look good or competent. Some are faring worse than others and naturally more or worse talented than other, but I'm not sure digging out individual players/performances is especially fair given the situation they've all been put in by the manager. Their performances are a symptom rather than the cause of our woes. A good manager would scheme to minimise the weaknesses of the players he purchased, rather than hanging them out to dry and exposing their weaknesses.

Side of ham, have you played football yourself?

When you sit back with 8 players close to your box, what is the viable option to start an attack? Yea by counterattack. That's your 90% for you explained.
It works sometimes, but you can't let that be your only way to play. That's why we are where we are atm

Eerie Descent 2:05 Fri Apr 14
Re: ⚽ Gent v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Moyes is the biggest problem at the club, without a shadow of doubt. That's has been and will be debated until he leaves.

That does not excuse Aguerd defending like he's been dragged off the Hackney Marshes and slung into top level football, or Soucek not being able to pass water. Those things will be discussed, whether it upsets you (clearly it does) or not.

Re: ⚽ Gent v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
You can ED you just want to blame the players more than the football (or lack of) they are being asked to play......his system has done them big time, they know when they attack there is a 90% chance shortly the opposition are coming back their way in numbers......

.....I simply want you to explain how these players can put in a good shift that gets them any sort of sense of achievement or enjoyment......bearing in mind that many of the decent players we have have to play with 9 men as a couple of them are week in week out statues or left up there on their own......

....this does not stop you discussing the players it just asks you to explain how they get to play better to your standards.....
